Why are you even doing Feed Fauquier PLUS this year?

According to our partner organizations who are on the front lines of helping those in need in our county, the need has never been greater. Across the board, they are seeing increases in the number of people looking for help. We understand that there is a pandemic going on, but we wanted to do what we could to be of assistance.

What does the PLUS mean?

It means that we want to provide more options for folks in a time where not everyone is able or comfortable to come out and pack. In addition to the packing of 25,000 meals, we are receiving food donations requested by our recipients as well as taking financial donations that will go towards efforts like Great Harvest’s bread making.

What are you doing for Safety in the food packing event?

In light of the current pandemic environment, we will do several things to ensure the safety of our participants.

  • First, we will be asking that all teams be families or groups who are comfortable serving with one another. If you cannot come up with a team of 6 to 10, but would like to participate, please contact us and we will discuss further options.
  • Second, we have reduced the number of packing stations during the sessions to increase the physical distance between tables. We have also increased the length of the packing session from one to two hours. This will create less turnover and will require only one deep cleaning during the break between the morning session and the afternoon session.
  • Third, we will be asking that all participants wear masks and gloves in addition to the normal hairnet and apron.
  • Fourth, we will have a team dedicated solely to keeping the packing area clean and will spray down any new item that is introduced to the packing area.

Where will the packing event and food drop off be?

At The Gathering Place, 650 Alwington Blvd, right behind the Warrenton Walmart and Brumfield Elementary School. MAP LINK

I cannot make the day of the event.  Can I drop off food at another time?

Yes, we will be receiving food at The Cornerstone Center located at 40 Rock Pointe Lane the week prior to the event, Monday – Friday, November 2-6th between the hours of 9AM and 3PM. MAP LINK

Is there a donation required this year?

No. Our local businesses and organizations, even in the down economy due to the pandemic, have provided enough funds for the reduced number of meals that no donation is needed to complete the purchase of the food.
